Bad news
This evening I had a little Project Replica pow-wow with my mom, the master seamstress. While she was away and I was minding the Linden Place fort I ran into a little problem with the midriff of the dress. Tonight I asked for her advice. Not only is the midriff inexplicably not long enough (by long I mean wide I guess - it’s barely closing around my belly), but the bodice is nearly impossible to slip on and off.
After mom and I hashed it out we figured my best bet is to start over with the midriff. It’s designed to be a mock belt, not opening at all. I’m going to try to revise the pattern slightly so that the wrap bodice will flap to the skirt. That way I can still have a very tailored look but there will be a little more expansion than just the side zipper when I pull it on. I’ll let you know how I fare in the next update. Wish me luck!
P.S. According to my goal I’m supposed to have this done in 16 days. I better start hustling!
